Quarter Finals

The WGC - Accenture Match Play Championship is one of four World Golf Championship events that is organized and sanctioned by the International Federation of PGA TOURS, and is the only tournament of the four that features a single-elimination match-play format.

accenture match play tent 2008Eligibility is limited to the top-64 players on the Official World Golf Ranking. Past champions of the WGC - Accenture Match Play Championship include Jeff Maggert, Darren Clarke, Steve Stricker, Kevin Sutherland, Tiger Woods (twice) David Toms and last years champion Henrik Stenson.

The tournament made the move to Arizona from the La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California, where it was held in all but one of the tournament’s eight years. Now we shall have the second Accenture Match Play Tournament at the Gallery Golf Club at Dove Mountain.

This move had generated a lot of excitement around Heritage Highlands. Heritage Highlands is the Gated Active Adult community located just down the road from where the Accenture is being played. Even more excitement and preparation than last year’s first tournament here. This tournament has helped bring a lot of changes to the Dove Mountain area since last year. The biggest is the start of the Ritz-Carlton Resort and Residence development. It is under construction in Dove Mountain now and the resort is scheduled for completion before the 2009 Accenture Match Play.

The dates for the event are February 18 practice rounds begin, Feb 20 First rounds, Feb 24 finals. The WGC - Accenture Match Play Championship is an exciting event every year. This year is expected to be no different.
